Commonwealth Nations more serious about their Macs
The Brits take their Macs more seriously than we do in the U.S.. While checking out Google’s new Trends service for the search terms “mac web design,” I got the following results:

And, it’s not just the Mac heads from the U.K., notice how highly Australia, with at third of the United Kingdom’s population and a fiftheenth that of the U.S., ranks. Canada comes in behind the U.S. in pure numbers but runs at about 10 times the per capita search rate.
I’ve always thought that the British Mac magazines:MacFormat, my favorite, MacUser and Macworld UK were far better publications than anything we get from the U.S. They seem to be more independent publications than purely advertising vehicles.
I’ve also enjoyed Practical Web Design, also from the U.K., as well as Digit, and .net.
Is it that there is more interest there because there are better publications or that there are better publications because there is more interest?
I don’t know how to answer that, so let’s try Google Trends with “mac magazine.”

No absolute conclusions from this, but the Commonwealth nations again top the U.S.. And it’s not just the Brits. Look at Ireland, may St. Paddy be blessin’ them. Yes, Ireland left the Commonwealth shortly after WWII but proximity counts as the Irish most certainly read British publications.
I checked the Yahoo directory. Nothing much from Ireland. Macdom is alive and well on the other side of the Pond. And London, it seems, is the center of the Mac publishing universe.

Are you sure that a search engine result + your personal likes/dislikes makes a news article? The logical connections seem tenuous, at best.

MacAddict is published by a British company. Shouldn\’t this be at least another half a point for the UK?

Thanks Mark. That does add another point for the UK.
As to poster, 90% of what you read in IT publications is opinion.
