DLS Seen as lower priced high-speed option
It appears that broadband internet users are starting to differentiate between cable and DSL service. A larger percentage of middle and lower income households opt for the lower priced DSL service while those with an income over $75 K/year tend towards cable, which is perceived as being faster and higher in quality. This is according to a recent report published by Leichtman Research Group.

There are a couple of other interesting statistics in the Liethcman Group report. About 80% of American households have a computer at home but only %58 percent of households earning under $30 K/year have one. The digital divide is still alive and well here.
For web designers it is interesting to note that 40% of Americans still access the internet through dialup. While broadband providers see this as an untapped market. However, a recent study tells us that the rate of conversion has been slowing for the last couple of years and the number of dialup users is expected to be around 30% in 2009.
